In terms of style, bathrooms are a widely neglected space, maybe because people just aren’t sure how to decorate them. Don’t worry—bathroom decor inspo is on the way!
Hello world! I woke up this morning completely refreshed after a long last few days and that’s reason enough for me to put a smile on my face this morning. Well, that and the fact that it has been RAINING! Normally the rain puts me in a particularly lackadaisical mood, but not today! We haven’t had any in a while so it was time for it to happen. I’m loving it. Rainy days are the great encourager of staying indoors. To me, staying indoors means going stir-crazy, which is simply something I don’t handle very well! As any busy-body knows, the way to handle this dilemma is to organize, redecorate, or have a project going. As such, I have a new project to throw your way: how to decorate a bathroom. We spend way too much time in this space to let it be boring and ugly! After all, it is where we beautify—shouldn’t we expect the area we do that in to be beautiful, too? Yes!
It can be incredibly exciting to take what you have and give it a mini-makeover or to completely redo the entire thing. For now, I’m going to show you a few ways to update your bathroom decor to give it an appeal that is in every way the opposite of lackluster!
Upgrade #1: I love fresh flowers, especially as decor. Fake ones aren’t my favorite thing ever, but you can find some that look more real than others and those are the ones you’ll want to find if that’s easier for you. They’re the perfect bathroom accessory to add to the counter. If you have a double sink, I would put the vase in the center of the two. In my opinion, you can never go wrong with flowers!
Upgrade #2: Glass canisters come in all shapes and sizes. You can find them basically anywhere and they are not expensive at all. If anything, I think these are the perfect countertop decoration because they are also very functional. You can easily store things like Q-tips and cotton balls in these, both of which I use regularly, and it’s nice to have them in an easy to reach space, while also maintaining their pretty-appeal. To give it a little something extra, I love love love the soap bars in the canister to the right! Using unique decor, like monogrammed soap bars, gives your bathroom a sense of luxury, and that’s never a bad thing!

Upgrade #3: Do you have a bunch of stuff sprawled out on the counter? The best way to have a cohesive bathroom design is to keep clutter out of sight. I love vanity trays because they display the things that we commonly reach for like perfume, a candle, or jewelry we wear regularly. There are so many styles that are all over the spectrum, including cost. Find one you love and perhaps a standing jewelry holder (like the one below) and you’re set! Just make sure not to pile things over the entire surface—you still want it to look nice!

Upgrade #4: Don’t forget to be awesome—even when you’re merely hunting for restroom decorations! Whimsical walls, mirrors that set the standard, and awesome wall hangings are all important parts of making your loo more personal! If you would say your bathroom style is more dialed down than this, then do something on a less bright scale, but still incorporate different tones and texture on the walls. The bottom line is that bare walls scare me!! I know that sounds weird, but not hanging anything on the walls doesn’t make a home feel like a home...it’s just a box. When in doubt, just have photos blown up and framed to hang!
Upgrade #5: You know when you go to a spa or stay at a nice hotel and there are those lush, soft, crisp white towels for you to use? Go get some of those. It’ll instantly make your shower, bath, and probably even your face washing experience at least 42 times better. Get a set that matches and looks like new. The better you buy, the longer they’ll last. You don’t have to spend a fortune on them, but you won’t feel as good drying off if the towel you’re using is threadbare. I love me a good white towel! If you have the space in your large or small bathroom, display rolled towels in a basket of some sort like shown below.
Bathrooms are a great place to start when you decide to decorate a room in your house because they’re usually not that big. Big spaces make it easy to get overwhelmed and feel like the job is not one you want. Take these tips and implement them into your bathroom for some quick and easy sprucing! Make it your own and, if you love it, then that’s all that matters.
