Want to decorate for the holidays, but your small apartment has you bummed? Don’t worry, I have some easy and space saving Christmas decorations just for you!
Hello, everyone! And Happy Holidays! It’s finally here. The most wonderful time of the year. I used to love decorating for the holidays. My mom and I would get the whole house all gussied up in her rustic Christmas style, and it would be beautiful. I looked forward to it every year, and I still help out when I go home for the holidays. But, when I first moved to college, I was so excited because I would be able to decorate my own space for Christmas! And then I moved into a small apartment and those hopes and dreams were dashed. Not only was I not going to be in my apartment for Christmas (since I go home to be with family), but I didn’t have the space to put up my little tree either. I was so sad. Needless to say I had to really brainstorm to find some Christmas decorations that would fit in my small space.
So, if you are feeling a little blue this Christmas about your decorating space, I have some great ideas for Christmas decorations for you so you can spread some Christmas cheer, without losing space in your home! Decorating for Christmas doesn’t have to be hard, or time consuming. Let’s take a look at some fun Christmas home decor!
When I first started seeing these cute, two dimensional trees, I fell in love. But, when I found ones that have Christmas tree lights on them too, I was sold! I love how this one incorporates lights, branches, and Christmas baubles and trinkets to create a wonderful winter wonderland! And, you can make it as big or as small as you like. You can also fit these puppies in wherever you have space on the wall for them! Bonus points if you have enough space to pile presents under your tree! Though, I would totally use a wooden wine crate to pack my presents in because my dogs would have a blast tearing into all those presents if I didn’t keep them safe! I like the added touch of the frosted pine cones. How easy would that be to DIY?
I really love this tree made from Christmas lights. It’s simple, sweet, and the photos of loved ones just make it that much cuter. Holidays are the time to spend with those you love, so why not showcase your love for them by having them be part of your holiday decorations? My favorite is the fact that there are even photos of the dog on the tree. So precious.

If I made a tree like this (which I totally might do now) I would have mostly pictures of my dogs with some photos of family and friends scattered around as my tree ornaments. Mostly because I have more pictures of my dogs than anyone (or anything) else. But hey, they are family to me! You can totally make something like this for yourself, too. You could even showcase photos from past Christmases, or travels with family and friends! The possibilities for these tree decorations are endless.
This is such a simple and cute idea! All you need is a drink tray, some greenery, and Christmas decorations. You can tuck this on a table, a deck, or any flat surface. You can make it any size you want, too. I love the added ornaments in the apothecary jar. So awesome! You can pick and choose ornaments that show off your Christmas decorating style, or go with the traditional colors like this one. You could even add in some Christmas cookies, candy, or other treats onto the tray. Maybe even turn it into a hot chocolate bar!
Decorating without Christmas ornaments is no fun, but if you don’t have a big tree, what can you do with all those ornaments? How about something like this? All you need is a tension rod, some fishing line, ribbon, or twine, and greenery. Wrap the tension rod in greenery, and tie each ornament on with different lengths of string, twine, or ribbon. I’ve done this a few times. Personally, I love using fishing line because then the ornaments look like they are floating. You can also put this in a doorway or entryway for guests to walk under, or if you are feeling ambitious, you can skip the tension rod and hang the ornaments from the ceiling. That would make some awesome Christmas room decor!
I love the ambiance this window gives off. I have a thing for string lights. I quite literally have an entire box of them sitting in my apartment. I’ve added a few strands out on my patio, and in my craft room closets (which have no light whatsoever) to bring more light to those spaces. Since I still have several strands left, I could totally make Christmas lights decorations like this, and you can too! All you need to do is to gather up your lights, and string them across any window. You can daintily loop and scallop the lights around, or make it a little haphazard like these. I love the different types in these decorative Christmas lights, and the added candles. It really creates a beautiful space, don’t you think?
