Why stick with white cabinets when you can add a little color to your home? Painted kitchen cabinets are the way to go! I’ve got a rainbow of options for you.
Hello, Color Queen here. I love color. Bold, beautiful color. I want to paint every room in my apartment a different vibrant hue… if only the landlord would let me! So for now, I stick to bright bedding and flamboyant furniture (I may or may not have painted a dresser teal…). However! You - you beautiful homeowner, you - can paint anything your heart desires. Including your kitchen cupboards! Why you ask? Well, don’t knock it until you’ve tried it. White kitchen cabinets are so overrated. White cabinets can be absolutely stunning, but I want to add some color to your home.
What’s that you say? You need a color before you can get to painting cabinets? And you don’t know what color to pick? Well then, just sit back and let me take you through the rainbow of painted kitchen cabinets.
Personally, I would never paint anything pink. Just not my style. However, if you love pink, I think you’ll love this kitchen. I do appreciate the contrast with the stainless steel counters, backsplash, and appliances.
Red is always a good color for a kitchen. In fact, most of my kitchen stuff is red! I have red pots and pans, red mixing bowls, and red mason jar salt and pepper shakers! One day I hope to own a red KitchenAid stand mixer. Red cabinets may not work so well with all my red stuff… but they might work in your kitchen!

Burnt orange may not be my favorite color, but it looks pretty amazing in this kitchen. The thing I love about this kitchen? The paneled fridge! And it even has a slot for the ice and water dispenser! How cute!
This image is technically of bathroom cabinets. However, it still proves that this brighter orange color works well on cabinets! I’m currently imagining a bowl of oranges sitting out on top of kitchen cabinets painted this color… wouldn’t that look so cool?
I’d have to think this cabinet color would make any morning sunny! How could you not be happy when walking into this bright room?
This yellow kitchen is a bit more homey than the last. These cabinets are just a little more muted (and probably a little easier on the eyes) than the last set. However, I imagine just as nice to see on a gloomy morning.
If warm colors aren’t necessarily your thing (like me), we’re finally on to the cooler side of the spectrum! This light green tone is such a nice and calming introduction to cooler colored cabinets.
Go bold or go home! Check out these lovely vibrant green cabinets! I love how well they work with the white island and black accessories… that way they’re not so overpowering!
I’m not sure what color you’d call these custom cabinets, but they’re in the blue-green family. Because of its muted tone, using this color floor-to-ceiling is rather appealing to the eye.

I am a sucker for this shade. I don’t care if you want to call it teal or turquoise, it’s a beautiful color. Because this kitchen only has lower cabinets, it was a great choice to paint them such a bold color - they really anchor the room! I dream of one day painting a kitchen this color!
What a cool blue kitchen! I can imagine a family hanging out in this kitchen all the time. This blue hue is just so calming and relaxing! It’s also a great contrast to the light wood floors, butcher block island counter, and wooden table. If you have lighter features like these in your kitchen, a darker color like this might be just right for you!
This kitchen definitely needed a light color! I love how well this light blue pops in comparison to the black floor, counter, and backsplash. What a bold take!
Hi. My name is Heather and I love purple. I might have thoroughly geeked out when I saw this kitchen. That is the exact shade of purple I dream of painting… well… everything! It’s just so bold and vibrant! What makes this dominant color work so well in this kitchen is the open space. The purple is allowed to stand on its own.

If the last purple is too vibrant to work in your kitchen, try out a shade of lavender like this kitchen island. It’s light, airy, and calming - the perfect color for any kitchen!
I don’t know about you, but these photos have me itching to go buy a can of paint. If you have colorful kitchen cabinets (or want to have some soon), let me know! I’d love to see your painted kitchens! Don’t forget to comment and share!
