The Pantone Fall 2014 Color Report has made waves all over. We’ve already discussed this season’s trends in home decor, and now it’s time to talk fashion!

I've previously introduced you to Pantone’s Fall 2014 Color Report; however, Pantone’s influence extends far beyond home decor, and, of course, it all starts in the fashion world. Following a brief review of the season’s new colors (explained in full detail in my last post), I have some gorgeous fall and winter outfits that y’all are sure to love! I’ve used Adobe Color CC to create a few palettes featuring my favorite color combos from Pantone’s report and found outfits to match. Enjoy!

Aurora Red Cognac Royal Blue Color Scheme Pantone Fall 2014 Fashion
  • Aurora Red is a “sophisticated shade that adds verve and spark.”
  • Cognac is a “classy and cultured brown” that “takes a typical autumnal color to a sumptuous realm.”
  • Royal Blue is “both evocative and dignified” and “provides more complexity and excitement than the average navy.”

These three colors paired together give off a rich, earthy, southwestern vibe that is totally on trend right now, especially for fallThe poncho has made a serious comeback this season and I love it! I used to wear them all the time when I was in middle school (when they weren’t cool, of course). The addition of black and a little leather takes this outfit and its color scheme to a completely different, more sophisticated, place.

Definitely one of my favorite color combinations this season, these particular jewel tones invoke a sort of dark and moody floral ambiance. Wool pleats and cable knit cottons make this outfit look SO cozy! The play on textures here is absolutely magical. It encompasses everything I could ever want in my favorite fall look: a little bit of grunge with a whole lot of jewel tones.

Pantone Fall 2014 Fashion Radiant Orchid Misted Yellow Color Scheme

Pantone Fall 2014 Fashion Radiant Orchid and Misted Yellow Color Scheme
  • Radiant Orchid, the 2014 Color of the Year, remains a “captivating and adaptable shade.”

  • Misted Yellow “adds a ray of sunshine and warmth” and “alludes to the promise of spring to come.”

Purple and yellow is always an upbeat and lively medley that doesn’t normally recall a fall or winter aura. Thus, this color combo brings a fresh perspective to this season’s fashion trends. Yes—more ponchos please! Like I said, even though these colors don’t immediately bring to mind the image of fall or winter fashion, it all comes down to fabric choice and layers. Definitely a look that will make you stand out from the crowd!

Pantone Fall 2014 Fashion Mauve Mist Aluminum Bright Cobalt Color Scheme
  • Mauve Mist is a “romantic and elegant purple shade,” which “stimulates a sense of femininity and empowerment.”

  • Aluminum is a “futuristic stainless steel shade that serves as a complex neutral.”

  • Bright Cobalt “offers a subtle twist on the traditional cobalt blue” with a “slightly green undertone.”

This icy combination represents a lighter take on the cooler colors that are traditionally associated with wintertime. Though probably not warm enough for winter (depending on where you live), this is such a cute look for fall! I love how subtle the color story is here. Bright Cobalt hues are picked up in the denim and Aluminum in the sparkle of the sequined tee. And those pastel purple pants are perfect for any season.

Obviously, these aren't the only possible combinations, but merely some of my favorites! In reality, the options are endless! How else have our readers seen the Pantone Fall 2014 Color Report influencing the fashion world? Do you have a favorite palette (one of mine or one of your own)? Please share, comment, and let us know. As always, we’d love to hear from you!
