Looking to give your home a style upgrade? Purple home decor can transform your home into a luxurious, royal abode!

A while ago, Phylicia wrote about how to add pink to your living room. Well, I’m not a huge fan of pink. Don’t get me wrong, there’s nothing wrong with it… it’s just not my favorite color. Actually, if I’m being honest, it’s one of my least favorite colors.

So what is my favorite color, you ask? I’m going to guess you already know the answer to that if you read the title of this blog post. That’s right: PURPLE! While Phylicia wrote about how to add a color to your home (as am I), my method is going to be a tad different. She showed you ways to subtly add pink to your home. I love purple way too much to be subtle! These purple home decor ideas are going to be a little more in your face.

Before we get too far, I wanted to share with you the inspiration behind this whole post. This is the image that inspired me. I fell in love with this purple wall. The rest of the bedroom decor isn’t really my style, but this purple wall paint is!

I don’t think you understand just how much I love this wall. Purple does this crazy thing to me. I don’t know what it is. But when I see something (anything) in a gorgeous shade of purple, I just have to have it. It’s not a want, it’s a need. If I could be surrounded by purple decor all day long, I totally would be. I love it. It’s my color. Which is why if I was allowed to paint the walls in my apartment, I wouldn’t be writing this blog. Why? I’d be out buying that exact color paint and painting every room in my apartment that color! Well, maybe not every room. Maybe.

Surprisingly, I’m not the only one that feels this way about the color purple. In high school, I took a trip and discovered heaven on earth: The Purple Store. Walking into that store was the most amazing feeling! Literally everything in sight was purple! Obviously, that just inspired me to find ways to add purple to my (and your) decor!

If you’re afraid of painting a whole wall purple (or don’t have a whole wall to paint purple), try this take on the idea. Paint your wainscoting purple!

I don’t know if you’ve noticed yet, but when I say purple, I mean purple. My favorite shades of purple are not of the lavender sort. If I’m going to add purple to my home decor, it’s going to be luxurious, bold shades that aren’t afraid to be powerful. Go big or go home, they say. So why not go big in your home?

I’m not sure if any of you are really aware of how serious I am. See this photo? While it took me a while to find online, I know exactly where my hard copy is. That’s right. I tore this photo out of the magazine when it was first published. Unfortunately, I can’t find any of the rest of the photos that went along with this home tour! If I am remembering correctly, not only is this patio door purple, but so are all the other exterior doors and window frames! So yes, I tore them all out for safe keeping so I can copy this look one day! Yep, I’m going to be the lady with the purple house. No shame.

Speaking of doors… exterior doors aren’t the only ones that can be purple! Interior doors want some love too! If you’re afraid of painting your door, don’t worry, there’s another option! Check out that gorgeous purple glass door knob! Honestly, I’d leave a door white if I could have that door knob. So gorgeous! Just remember to take your home design into account when altering your doors. A vintage door knob might look out of place in a modern home.

Ok, so maybe purple painting ideas just aren’t your thing. It’s ok to not want to paint a wall or a door purple. Purple isn’t limited to your vertical surfaces! Appliances can be purple, too! Just take a gander at these two. Let’s be honest, I would totally design a kitchen around either one of these. How could you not?! That stove is purple and retro… what more could you possibly want in a stove? I mean… as long as it works. And that sink! I wouldn’t mind doing dishes if I got to do them in that sink. Plus, can you imagine all the purple kitchen accents you could pair with these? Sounds like the perfect kitchen decor to me!

Afraid of making too permanent of a change? Try purchasing some accent furniture in shades of purple. With those chairs or that ottoman, you still get a good amount of color, but without the fear of being stuck with a wall you just don’t like. If you decide you can’t handle that much color, you can always switch out these pieces of furniture!

If I didn’t already have purple dining chairs, I would be all over those chairs! I love industrial decor, but you rarely get to have any color in it. With these chairs, you can have industrial and purple. I’m sold.

And when all else fails, you can add some purple into your home through accents like pillows, blankets, glass, and art! Purple accessories are the way to go!

Obviously, you can take any of these ideas and change the color to fit you. However, aren’t they just so much more awesome in purple?! I know, I’m biased. Whether you add purple into your home through paint, furniture, home accents, or wall decor, it’s sure to brighten up your life. I could talk purple home decor ideas all day, but I’m curious… what’s your favorite idea?
