These portable essential oil diffusers are exactly what you need. Here are 3 “feel the way you want” therapeutic air blends so you’ll never be off your game again!

When I was little, I remember that I always thought it was weird how everybody's house smelled different. Whether it was the smell of freshly baked yeast rolls at my Nana’s, warm cinnamon sugar at my Aunt Lisa's, or clean linens at my friend’s, I quickly learned that every home has a certain smell.

Fast forward to a few weeks ago. As I was scrolling through my Facebook feed, I saw an ad for something called a “MONQ.” As I watched the video, it looked like all of these young, healthy, and nice-looking people were smoking e-cigarettes or vaping. The advertisement struck me as odd so I decided to do a little research. MONQ is a company that has linked certain scents to memories, thoughts, and feelings. Originally, the company had 7 “feel the way you want” personal and portable essential oil diffusers; now, the brand has expanded to include a set of diffusers called “feel nature” to allow customers to use air therapy to transport themselves to a tropical beach, a secluded forest, or snowcapped mountain peaks.

Made from 100% naturally extracted and organic essential oils, the company has their customers’ safety at the forefront of their product development. When I first started looking into this product, I was very skeptical. I’ve used topical essential oils before and they had worked wonderfully, but those stay on your skin and you can smell them for hours. With that in mind, I had no idea how one breath from a MONQ oil diffuser would be at all effective. So, in order to clear the air a bit here is how they work.

The explanation MONQ provides on their website may be a little over my head, but here it is: “Terpenes carry scent information to olfactory neurons in the nose and sinuses. Olfactory neurons transmit complex scent data to the olfactory bulb in the brain. This information is then directly transmitted to other areas of the brain that are responsible for perception, learning, and emotion.” Got that? Basically plants send out signals to everything around them through things called terpenes. These are kind of like little sensory messages from the plant to the environment. Through certain harvesting techniques, MONQ turns these little invisible messages into therapeutic essential oils.

Now that we know how they work, I’m going to break down a few of the 7 different “feel the way you want” blends. I chose these three diffusers for essential oils because I felt like these were the ones I was the most skeptical of so I wanted to get more information on them. If there is one in particular that you would like to know more about of if you are looking for a complete list, check out their website.

I know I hardly ever feel the way I want, when I want. When I need to be asleep, I'm wide awake. When I want to sit down and relax, my anxiety spikes. And, even though the only way I’ll ever run is if someone is chasing me; I’m pretty sure if I needed to, I wouldn't feel like it.

Therapeutic Air Monq Zen Pen Frankincense Ylang Ylang Sweet Orange Succulents

To start off, let's look at the Zen MONQ pen. This essential oil diffuser is comprised of three main scents, frankincense, ylang ylang, and sweet orange. Like I said earlier, MONQ only uses the best products when creating their essential oils. The frankincense used to create this product originates from Oman and is harvested using steam. When I saw the word frankincense, the first thing that came to mind was a baby in a manger on a cold winter's night surrounded by animals; however, frankincense has been used in meditation practices for thousands of years! It is a common belief that since frankincense allows you to take deeper breaths it will calm your mind and create a feeling of tranquility.

Along with frankincense, the Zen pen has ylang ylang. Ylang ylang was a complete mystery to me when I started researching these, but it seems to be one of the coolest plants on the planet. Believed to soothe the body and create a sense of wellness, ylang ylang is rumored to even be able to combat fear.

The last main component of the Zen MONQ pen is sweet orange. I love oranges, like actually they are probably one of my favorite foods. Oranges are super common in aromatic therapy treatments, and from what I have experienced they work really well. There is something about the freshness that accompanies the tangy smell that makes you want to move around. It’s energizing and helps you feel better after a long day.

This pen also includes: black pepper, clary sage, dill seed, eucalyptus, lemon, rosemary, sage, spearmint and tea tree. Simply breathe in through your mouth and out through your nose, and an overwhelming sense of calmness will wash over you, clearing your mind and allowing you to focus in on whatever task is at hand. This would be such a blessing for me during finals, or honestly any high stress environment.

Therapeutic Air Monq Happy Pen Fennel Thyme Vanilla Beach Seashells

Next up is the Happy blend. This is the one that I am most excited to try. Being happy is sometimes so much easier said than done. Everyone goes through lows sometimes and I think it would be wonderful to have a personal pick-me-up wherever I go. The Happy blend is made of fennel, thyme, and vanilla scents primarily, with fennel directly from Egypt being the most powerful scent. Fennel is a name that is not new to the game. It's been used for thousands of years. This super rad plant is said to repel negative energies. While its main function is to soothe upset stomachs, either way this plant is a powerhouse in the aromatherapy department. With those near magical effects in mind, I just might need to go buy some right now.

After fennel is thyme. When I think of thyme all I see is my spice cabinet, a well-seasoned turkey on Thanksgiving, or that internet meme that has someone with “too much thyme on their hands.” Luckily the aromatherapists at MONQ aren’t internet trolls and have skillfully combined thyme with other scents to create this awesome formula. If you haven't caught on quite yet, most of these ingredients have been used for thousands of years because of their reputation within the health and wellness community. Nothing changes with thyme… well actually everything changes with it, but you get the point. Thyme is believed to increase circulation, improve moods, entice movement, and supports better heart health. You know what they say, thyme heals all. (Sorry for the preponderance of thyme puns, but I just couldn't resist!)

The last primary scent of the Happy MONQ diffuser is vanilla. Me and vanilla have a past. I am an avid ice cream consumer and with this flavor being the most purchased across the globe I can tell that I am not alone. Along with being the best flavor of ice cream you could ever ask for, vanilla is considered to be an aphrodisiac, anxiolytic, and is thought to balance out your mood. Another benefit that this little miracle is known for is boosting confidence.

The Happy MONQ blend also includes caraway, clary sage, lavender, mandarin green, marjoram, parsley seed and petitgrain. After reading the list of scents used in this blend, I can only say that I am ten times more excited to try it.

Therapeutic Air Monq Active Pen Bitter Orange Black Pepper Sage Nature Outdoors Mountain

While my happy place is sitting on the couch watching HGTV learning how to further gentrify my home while eating a bowl of vanilla ice cream, some people enjoy things like running and exercise. Don’t ask me why. My mama always told me to remember “to each his own.” With that being said, let’s look at the Active MONQ blend. Made up of bitter orange, black pepper, and sage, this blend of spicy scents will motivate you and propel you to do more in your everyday life. We’ve already covered the medicinal properties associated with oranges and they are used in this blend for the same reason they are in the Zen blend, to clear your mind and allow you to focus.

On top of the bitter orange, you’ll catch a whiff of black pepper. Black pepper is known to warm up the body in more ways than you know. If you ever need a quick boost of energy or seem to be feeling sluggish, just take a whiff of some peppercorns and you should feel a bit better. Black pepper was even used in some of the first Olympic Games to give athletes a competitive edge!

Finally, the blend is rounded out with a smooth sage scent. Sage has way more benefits aside from being the kryptonite of spooky spirits. This wonder plant can help with fatigue and help keep you from being grumpier than usual. Being a stimulant for both the body and mind, it promotes good vibes and keeps you in your happy place. In this blend you may also recognize scents of allspice, anise, copaiba, frankincense, lemon, mandarin yellow, parsley seed, rosemary, spearmint and sweet orange.

If you would like to learn more about MONQ and their products, visit their website! Clearly, I’m going to have to go order myself at least one of these. Each diffuser runs $20.00, but they can all be purchased as parts of multiple sets for a lower rate. Share your thoughts about MONQ with us by liking, commenting on, and sharing this post. Remember, stay blessed, not stressed!
