The art of minimalism is not something everyone can do. Those who own tiny houses take minimalism to epically tiny proportions!
I love the idea of minimalism. Owning less things, having less stuff to clutter your space, and having this sense of organization and cleanliness wash over you every time you walk into a room because every single thing you happen to own has its place. Well, I’m not going to sugar coat it. I love the concept, but I also love my stuff. I am a
hoarder collector of many things. Glass bottles, shot glasses, yarn, and recently, plants, cover pretty much every surface of my apartment. And I am completely okay with this. However, I have this utter fascination with tiny houses. I don’t know why I love them so much. But I do. It could be because the tiny house movement has gotten bigger (hehe) over the last couple years, and I’m seeing more of them. Maybe it’s because, as someone who hoards I mean, collects things, I have a hard time wrapping my head around how an entire home can fit in a space smaller than my bedroom. Like, mind totally blown!
Today, I’m going to share some cool small houses with you guys because I can’t help but love them. I found some with super cute exteriors, and others with awesome interiors, so without further ado, let’s look at tiny houses!
Exteriors: There are many, many different tiny house exteriors you can find. I picked a small variety of really unique ones I found that still have that iconic tiny home look.
I saw this little cottage type house with the teal blue roof and I was instantly in love. How cute is this? Plus, that striped porch is fantastic! I would have never thought to paint a porch in stripes like that, but it totally plays off of the black trim the rest of the house has. Speaking of the black trim, I love those black window sills and boxes. Those would be the perfect place to grow an herb garden! The only thing I don’t like about this home is that sock monkey on the bench. Sock monkeys creep me out.

Just because you have a smaller house doesn’t mean you have to have a smaller porch too! How awesome is this set-up? I love the rustic, farmhouse feel this tiny house has, not to mention again how great that huge porch is! This would be the place in tiny house communities where all the neighbors bring a chair and chill here to watch the sunset and have a nice cold beverage. Not a bad life at all!
I can’t help but like this one. This is exactly what I pictured when I first heard about tiny housing. These little bitty wooden structures that look like tiny cabins. However, I was not expecting the hot tub half the size of the home to be part of it! That’s just fantastic! I also love all the long, rectangular windows. They remind me of arrow slots you find in old castles, and frankly I have always dreamed about owning my own castle. I can totally picture a tiny house like this one being made to emulate a castle, with arrow slot windows and mini turrets galore. Plus, you could have your own miniature castle, and build a tiny moat to go around it. That would be so awesome. Okay, I can feel you all judging me through the computer. Let’s move on.

This one by far had the most unique and adorable exterior I found. It’s a tiny little portable caravan! This would be the ultimate road trip home, and one I would definitely consider getting as is. I mean, a tiny home on wheels? How cool! Oh, interesting tidbit. The site I found this one on will actually match you with a tiny home to buy or rent! Neat, right? So, if you're in the market for a new home, click here to go check out some wonderful tiny home listings and perchance I’ll be the one to help you find the miniature home of your dreams!
Interiors: The interiors you can find from the tiny home movement are as varied as the exteriors. The ones I chose to show you today all coincide with different decor styles, so there’s a tiny home interior here to match everyone’s tastes and styles!
This is a pretty typical micro home design interior you’ll find in tiny houses. It’s very modern, simplistic, and the epitome of minimalist. I love the winding stairway that goes up into the loft bedroom! I like the idea of the bedroom being up in a loft like this. It’s different, and super cool. This is a trend in all tiny houses and I'm kind of in love with it. This interior also has an interesting look with the white walls and raw wood ceiling.
This interior is also really cool! It’s super rustic, and I love the shade of blue they used mixed with that awesome yellow gold door. The kitchen area in this one is absolutely my favorite. The set-up is great, and there's a huge amount of counter space. I love to cook and bake, so counter space is something I need, and this tiny kitchen has plenty! Plus, I love the tiny bar area with the barstools! This would be like the epitome of little house living for me!
This here is a little more contemporary. It does have another very cool ladder heading up to the loft bedroom, like the others. I think I may have a thing for cool stairs and ladders. But anyways, I enjoy the fact this one has more ‘homey’ decor in it, like photos, pictures, and artwork on the walls. There’s even a tiny bookshelf in the corner! The couch has some awesome fluffy cushions, too, which would be great for chillin’ and watching shows. I totally think they were watching Bob’s Burgers when they took this photo!
The all wood interior of this tiny home reminds me of a bungalow or cabin that would be out in the woods somewhere. Not a creepy cabin, but a nice, sweet one. I also like the two large chairs in the living area instead of a couch. It takes up less space, and you get a chair all to yourself, and I’m all about that life. And, there’s that killer window seat in the back there where I would curl up with a nice book and a cup of coffee and totally relax. This house also has that awesome fireplace, which is perfect to heat up this small home in the wintertime!
Last, but not least, I couldn’t help but share this: the Lilypad!

I love this tiny house because it has that whole boho chic style going on, both inside and out. Plus, I’m very partial to purple doors. Purple is one of my favorite colors, after all. But this home, yeah this is one I could get behind. I might want a different exterior, but the interior is perfect. It seems like it would be the home of a wayward hermit, diviner, or travelling performer you read about in fantasy novels. You know which ones I’m talking about, the ones that always know what’s about to happen in the book and warn the protagonist, but of course no one listens to them even though they were right all along. I would totally be okay with having that image and this tiny home!
Well, there you have it, folks! Some adorable tiny houses for you to look at! Even though I personally wouldn’t move into one, I would totally rent one for a vacation! Which exterior and interior decor were your favorites? Leave me a comment, and don’t forget to share this post with your family and friends!
